LAHORE: Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) President Abdul Aleem Khan on Sunday promised that the party would ensure supply of free electricity up to 300 units to the common man if comes to power after the upcoming elections.
Speaking at a corner meeting of the party here, the IPP leader said that the nation’s major problem is inflated electricity bills, claiming that after coming to power they will provide financial assistance to WAPDA for provision of free electricity to people consuming up to 300 units per month.
Aleem Khan maintained that he is running a network of free dispensaries but he wants to expand it across Pakistan for the deserving people.
In a separate development, the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) prepared a list of 28 national and provincial assemblies constituencies for seat adjustment with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the upcoming general elections 2024.
Sources claimed that Jahangir Tareen-led IPP wanted to make seat adjustments in 20 National Assembly seats – 19 in Punjab and one in Karachi constituencies.
The IPP shared the names of 28 candidates of party for seat adjustment with PML-N at a meeting of the PML-N and Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party joint committee held at former speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq’s residence on Saturday.
According to the list, IPP chief Jahangir Tareen will contest the election from Lodhran, party president Abdul Aleem Khan and Aoon Chaudhry will contest the election from Lahore.
Ghulam Sarwar Khan will contest the polls from Taxila, Aamir Kayani and Ali Nawaz Awan will contest from Islamabad while Ishaq Khakwani from Vehari.
Similarly, Firdous Ashiq Awan will be the IPP candidate from Sialkot and Farrukh Habib from Faisalabad, Murad Ras Lahore, Khalid Mahmood Sheikhupura, Imran Ismail and Mahmood Maulvi will contest from Karachi.
Furthermore, Col (r) Muhammad Anwar will contest from Attock, Nauman Langriyal and Noreez Shakur from Sahiwal and Samsam Bukhari will take part in the polls from Okara.
Likewise, Colonel (r) Hashim Dogar, Sardar Talib Nakai and Asif Nakai are aspiring for election from Kasur.
Both the parties have agreed to continue the discussion on seat adjustment and there will be another meeting on Monday.
General elections
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had notified general elections on February 8, 2024.
According to details, the Election Commission issued a notification of the date of the general election under Section 57 of the Election Act۔
The notification said that in light of the Supreme Court’s order, the general elections will take place on February 8, 2024.
