Despite all odds, PTI-P gears up for elections: Mahmod Khan

SWAT: Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister and Vice Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarian (PTI-P) Mahmood Khan said that the election will be very difficult and voters will not be available due to the worsening law and order situation in southern districts and harsh weather in northern areas of the country.

“Despite deteriorating law and order situation and heavy snowfall in the northern areas, we are making preparations for the general elections in the light of the orders issued by the Supreme Court of Pakistan”, PTI-P Vice Chairman Mahmood Khan stated while talking exclusively to Pakistan Today at his residence in Matta Tehsil of Swat district.

Mahmood Khan claimed that manifesto and constitution of the PTI-P was ready and will be made public within a week. “Peace, development and prosperity are the main points of our party’s manifesto because when there is peace, there will be development and when there is development, people will be prosperous.”

“Apart from this, the province, the merged districts have been deprived of due right and we will be paying special focus on this issue”, he pointed out.

“When I was the chief minister, we had spent huge funds in the merged districts, but after our government, the journey of development has stopped there,” he claimed, adding the KP owed Rs250 billion in outstanding dues to the federal government.

He further said that at present, all developmental projects were at a standstill in the province. “The health card has been stopped. The cards given to the landlords have been stopped and everything is going backwards.”

“First of all, we have to fix this system otherwise nothing will be fixed.” he further said.

Mahmood Khan said that there is no final word in politics and taking this into account, the PTI-P had started negotiations with various parties for electoral alliance and seat adjustment at the provincial level.

“In this context, we have also had discussions under the leadership of Parvez Khan Khattak and we hope this phase will be completed by January 11.”

“My personal wish is that we should go for the seat adjustment, but if not, we will pin our hopes on all the constituencies.” he said.

He said that Parvez Khattak was the Chief Minister of this province for five years and I have served the people of this province for four and a half years and we will enter the elections based on our performance and form the government in this province.

He further said that he had submitted nomination papers from three national constituencies and one provincial constituency of Swat and he will decide on one of the national constituencies as per the wishes of our people.
