PTI reacts to PBC, SCBA statements on intra-party polls

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson strongly denounced the recent press conference held by representatives of the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) and Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), labeling it as part of a larger scheme to undermine free and fair elections in the country. The spokesperson rejected the court’s decision to strip PTI of its electoral symbol, the “bat,” calling it flawed and offensive, and accused the judiciary of succumbing to political pressure.

Highlighting PTI’s commitment to transparent intra-party elections, the spokesperson emphasized the party’s adherence to the law during the election process. He criticized the silence of lawyers’ representatives in the face of constitutional violations, the trampling of the constitution, and the installation of unconstitutional governments in the provinces.

Expressing concern over the threats faced by the judiciary, particularly the judges of the Peshawar High Court, the spokesperson accused a minority class of lawyers of contributing to the erosion of democracy and the destruction of the judiciary. Despite these challenges, PTI spokesperson vowed that the people would respond to overt and covert attacks through the power of votes on February 8, aiming to thwart rival forces and defend constitutional, legal, and democratic principles.

In a separate statement, the PTI spokesperson addressed internal party matters, affirming that PTI remained fully united. All decisions within the party were claimed to be made unanimously in accordance with the vision of PTI Chairman-for-life Imran Khan. Dismissing claims of division within the party, the spokesperson condemned attempts to create such impressions and reiterated the party’s readiness for the upcoming general elections.

The spokesperson declared that the process of awarding tickets in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been completed with diligence, and candidates for other parts of the country would be finalized by the evening. PTI’s unity and preparation for the general elections were underscored, with a commitment to securing a historic mandate on February 8 to end lawlessness, constitutional deviations, and injustices in the country.
