LAHORE: Construction of 40 smart police stations in various districts of the province, including Lahore, is underway at brisk pace, which upon completion, will improve the police force service delivery.
In a video message issued here on Tuesday, Punjab Inspector General Police Dr Usman Anwar informed that 40 smart police stations in various districts of the province including Lahore, are being constructed in place of the old buildings and police stations.
“Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the old police stations of Lahore and decided to build smart police stations. Smart police stations are being constructed at the locations of Sanda, Shafiqabad, Islampura, Shadman police stations in the provincial capital”, he stated, adding that the solution to the lack of suitable lands to build new police stations in place of old dilapidated buildings was the smart police stations.
Dr Usman Anwar pointed out the smart police stations will consist of one or two kanal spaces and will be equipped with all modern facilities. “All-out resources have been approved, construction sites selected and construction work has been kicked off on the project.”
The IG Police said that all the police stations of the province had shifted to the Special Initiative Protocol, all work in police stations including FIR registration, were being completed as per the prescribed timelines.
“Punjab Police is discharging duty of public service and protection with full dedication even in adverse conditions and with limited resources”, the IGP claimed, adding that Punjab Police was ready to face all kinds of dangers to protect the life and property of the citizens.
Pace of work on developmental projects reviewed
Meanwhile, Punjab IG Police Dr Usman Anwar is actively monitoring early completion of ongoing police development projects in various districts of the province and in this regard, he visited various projects and offices in Lahore early in Tuesday morning.
The IGP reviewed work on developmental projects in Qurban Police Lines, including under construction offices of DIG and SSP Tele-Transport and directed to complete upgradation of Police Mess Qurban Lines as soon as possible.
Later, IG Punjab reached the site of under construction Mega Police Khidmat Center in Shadman. Dr Usman Anwar reviewed the construction works of mega police Khidmat Center. While giving instructions to the officers, the IGP said that Police Khidmat Center is a wonderful project of public service delivery and its completion within the stipulated period should be ensured. The IGP said that more than 14 policing and driving related services including will be available to the citizens from Shadman Khidmat Center.
Dr Usman Anwar said that the purpose of improving police infrastructure is to improve public service delivery. MD Safe City Authority Ahsan Younas, DIG Tele-Transport Imran Ahmar, DIG Elite Mansoorul Haq Rana, DIG Operations Lahore Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, SSP Tele-Transport Asad Sarfaraz Khan, SSP Operations Lahore Ali Raza, Chief Operating Officer Safe City Mustansar Feroze, Punjab AIG Operations Dr Asad Ijaz Malhi, SP Model Town and ASP Gulberg and other officers were also present.
