A few years ago, I was in the Indian city of New Delhi where I saw hundreds of cycle rickshaws on the roads. I wonder why the cycle rickshaw has been abandoned in Pakistan. It is a pollution-free means of transport that is noiseless and can provide inexpensive local transport for short distances in the cities. The cycle rickshaw has been replaced in Pakistan by motorcycle rickshaw, which is a massively noisy option and a huge source of pollution. Moreover, cycle rickshaws can be a source of income with very little investment, and may help reduce unemployment in the country. Why not bring this useful transport back to Pakistan?
