LAHORE: The Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department on Saturday claimed to have arrested 11 terrorists including a key commander of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The arrests were made during intelligence-based operations conducted in various districts across the province.
According to a spokesman, the CTD conducted targeted operations in various areas of Lahore, Sargodha, Jhang, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Narowal and Jhelum districts.
He said the arrested terrorists were: identified as Gull Shahdin, Kazim, Nawab, Osama, Ijaz, Zaheer, Mustafa Khan and Rasool Khan.
The CTD also claimed to recover suicide jackets, IED bombs, 2 detonators, 11 security fuses, 17 prime cards and cash from the possession of the terrorists.
The spokesperson informed that the TTP key commander, arrested from Bahawalpur, had received terror training from Afghanistan.
The arrested terrorists were planning attacks on state installations. The CTD official said during the current week, more than 790 combing operations were conducted by the security officials and more than 33546 suspects were interrogated.
He reiterated the resolve that the CTD was committed to eradicate poverty from the province.
