News addiction

We, as a nation, consume news as much as we consume tea. While it is good to be politically informed and aware of happenings around the world, what, if like all other habits, it becomes an addiction? Just think about it for a while and you would realise what you are getting into. Once addicted, there is no way out. No easy way out, I mean.

Today, in an era of social media wars and frenzy, news addiction has become real. But, is it healthy? Numerous studies have shown that overconsumption of media is not good. We can read a book or few articles in the newspaper.

However, continuous consumption of politics and news from 7pm to midnight, or watching vlogs of your favourite news anchor for a long time is not a healthy thing to do. We should be spending our time on better things.

Nations do not change by sitting on sofas, drinking tea and watching millio- naires debate and shout at each other.
