PTI condemns sealing of Central Office Islamabad, Quetta

  • Omar Ayub urges judiciary to take notice of police’s clear violation of SC orders
  • Party convened General Body Meeting in Islamabad, in provincial capitals as part of Intra-Party Elections

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan lashed out at police for denying PTI the right to hold it’s General Body Meeting convened in Islamabad and the provincial capitals as part of the Intra-Party Elections, calling upon the top court to take immediate notice of clear violation of its orders.

Omar Ayub said that PTI’s General Body Meeting had been called for Wednesday in Islamabad and in cities of the 4 Provinces as part of the Intra Party Elections. However, he added that PTI’s Central Office in Islamabad and Quetta have been encircled by the Police, and the party members were denied access to the premises.

PTI Secretary General highlighted that this action by the Police was in direct violation of the Supreme Court orders.

“Every obstacle is being placed in PTI’s path to prevent us from functioning as a political party, but we shall endure and persevere with Allah’s help, In Sha Allah,” he said, adding, “The people of Pakistan are with PTI Chairman-for-life Imran Khan and PTI. This fact alone terrifies our opponents.”

“We condemn this action of the Police and call upon the judiciary to take immediate notice,” he demanded.

Omar Ayub recalled that just as a reminder, ECP allotted ANP its electoral symbol by paying a fine despite the fact that it had not conducted its Intraparty Elections, adding that this proved the point that Pakistan is not a state being governed by laws but was being governed by whims.

“A country governed without laws does not attract any investment. Pakistan’s political economy is in a tail spin and has imploded,” he maintained.

He alarmed that it would further deteriorate unless free and fair elections are held and a strong government emerges that can take difficult decisions to steer the country out of the current crisis. However, Omar Ayub stated that for this only Imran Khan was the person who can lead Pakistan as Prime Minister.
