No formal talks with any political party yet; says Bilawal

ISLAMABAD: In a recent statement, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, the Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), asserted that no formal discussions have taken place with any political party, including the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), regarding the government formation in Lahore.

During an interview with a private channel on Saturday, Bilawal clarified, “So far, there have been no formal talks with either the PML-N, PTI, or any other political party.” He emphasised the importance of awaiting the completion of the vote count in all constituencies before engaging in discussions about potential government alliances.

The PPP chairman expressed patience in anticipation of the official announcement of election results. He stated, “We are waiting for the completion of the vote count in all constituencies, and the results to be unveiled.”

Preceding the elections, the Central Executive Committee of the Pakistan Peoples Party nominated Bilawal as their candidate for prime minister. In response to this, he mentioned, “If we need to change this decision, we will once again convene the Central Executive Committee to decide collectively.”

Bilawal highlighted the importance of establishing a ‘political consensus’ in the country, asserting that without such consensus, any government formed would face challenges in delivering effective governance.

He remarked, “Some informal contacts are present in our relationships, but so far, there has been no contact with the PTI bloc.”
