IHC sets hearing for Bushra Bibi’s request to shift from Bani Gala to Adiala Jail

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has fixed for hearing a plea filed by former first lady and wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan to transfer her to Adiala Jail from Bani Gala.

According to the court’s cause list issued by the Registrar Office, Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb will take up the case.

Bushra Bibi’s petition challenges the January 31 notification that designated Bani Gala as a sub-jail, advocating for the annulment of the decision.

In her plea, she asserts her desire to serve her sentence in Adiala Jail, citing the principle of equal rights. She argues that, like other political activists, she should be among the common prisoners in jails.

Notably, Bushra Bibi was handed a 7-year imprisonment sentence in the Iddat Nikah case and a 14-year sentence in the Toshakhana case by the court.
