PML-N’s Malik Ahmad Khan emerges as hot favourite for PA speaker slot

ISLAMABAD: After gaining a majority in the Punjab Assembly in the general elections held on February 8, the PML-N’s leadership is now mulling over the names of different party stalwarts for the position of Punjab Assembly (PA) speaker, it was learnt on Wednesday.

Sources said that Malik Ahmad Khan is a strong candidate for the seat as several party leaders are in support of his candidature, while the names of Khawaja Salman Rafiq and Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman are also under consideration.

They have added that final consultations will be held over who could be the PML-N’s nominees for the positions of PA speaker as well as deputy speaker at the parliamentary party’s meeting, which will be presided over by the party’s Chief Organizer Maryam Nawaz.
