ISLAMABAD: Two independent members of the National Assembly elected on a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) ticket, Barrister Gohar and Umar Ayub, have opted to remain unaffiliated with any political party despite the expiry of the ECP’s deadline.
According to PTI sources, 86 independent candidates have joined the Sunni Ittehad Council and eight have aligned with the Muslim League-N, Gohar and Ayub have chosen to maintain their independent status. This decision is reportedly linked to their intentions to contest for Chairman and General Secretary positions in the upcoming PTI intra-party elections.
PTI has officially announced its intra-party election schedule, with polling set for March 3rd. The nomination process will commence on February 23rd and 24th, with submissions accepted both physically and digitally through email.
