Chinese Karachi Consulate donates ration for 2000 Gwadar flood victims

GWADAR: As a part of humanitarian endeavours to mitigate acute plight of Gwadar flood victims, Consulate General of People’s Republic of China in Karachi has delivered essential food items (Ration) for 2000 flood affected families in Gwadar City.

The ration consists of flour bags and cooking oil. The consignment that reached Gwadar by road is being handed over to Gwadar district administration by China Overseas Ports Holding Company, Gwadar Pro reported.

Earlier this month, following the torrential rain, COPHC also distributed food to 1000 local families. General Consular of Karachi Mr Yang Yundong in a letter to DC Gwadar had expressed solidarity with the people of Gwadar and assured their fullest support in the wake of unprecedented rain early this month.

China has been a regular supplier of food in Gwadar the past few years.

On March 14, Chinese government also provided $100,000 emergency cash assistance to Pakistan for rain-hit areas in Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

A donation ceremony was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for emergency aid provided by the Chinese government to rain-hit areas in Balochistan and KP.

On behalf of the Chinese government, Ambassador Jiang Zaidong handed $100,000 emergency cash assistance over to the Foreign Secretary of Pakistan Mohammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi.

In the near future, an additional RMB 500,000 in material assistance will be provided through the Consulate General in Karachi.
