PTI moves IHC seeking permission for rally in Islamabad on March 30

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday moved the Islamabad High Court, seeking permission to hold a rally in the federal capital on March 30.

The PTI seeks court orders for a rally to proceed at 10pm on March 30, at any of the three preferred venues –Parade Ground, F9 Park or D Chowk.

PTI District President Aamir Mughal filed the petition through his counsel and PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat and made the Interior Secretary, Chief Commissioner Islamabad, and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad as respondents.

Underscoring their commitment to a peaceful rally, the PTI leader requested the court to direct the authorities to implement road closures on the designated day to ensure safety of the participants. Additionally, the petition emphasizes the need for measures to prevent any potential violence and maintain public order during the rally.

According to details, the IHC Registrar’s Office fixed the petition for hearing on Wednesday (today) and issued a cause list.

Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Justice Amir Farooq would hear the plea.

Earlier on March 10, the PTI announced to hold a public gathering in Islamabad on the occasion of Pakistan Day on March 23.

PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat while addressing the party’s protest demonstration in Islamabad said that they would approach the Islamabad Deputy Commissioner for a permission for the public gathering.

“If the administration rejects our request, the PTI will move to the Islamabad High Court,” he added. Sher Afzal Marwat said that it is their right to hold a ‘peaceful’ protest as per the constitution.
