As heavy rains sweep across cities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Dubai residents have been advised to stay indoors and observe a remote working and learning day.
This decision follows directives from Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in response to challenging weather conditions in the metropolitan area.
To ensure the safety of citizens and employees amidst potentially adverse weather, all government entities and private schools in Dubai will operate remotely on Tuesday. This includes online classes for students and remote work for government employees in other emirates.
Given the forecast of thunderstorms and high winds of up to 70kph until Wednesday, residents are urged to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel. Private sector companies are encouraged to implement remote work arrangements for their employees as well.
Sheikh Hamdan emphasized the importance of proactive measures in safeguarding public health and safety, leading to the decision for remote operations on Tuesday.
Dubai authorities have affirmed their readiness to manage any impact of the weather, with pre-emptive measures in place to monitor weather patterns and ensure public safety.
Airports have also been closed with most flights cancelled as runways remain flooded.
