KP CM advisor demands resignation of PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi

PESHAWAR: Adviser to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif on Sunday demanded that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi resign immediately.

This development follows Naqvi’s comments suggesting that the Green Shirts require “major surgery” after their poor performance in the T20 World Cup, which led to their elimination from the tournament.

“It seemed that a minor surgery would work but after this bad performance, I’m now sure that a major surgery is required. The nation will soon see a major overhaul,” Naqvi stated.

In their three matches played so far, Pakistan has lost to the US and India, securing a win only against Canada. However, this was insufficient to keep them in contention for the Super Eight round.

The team will play its final match against Ireland today, hoping to end their disappointing tournament campaign on a positive note.

Speaking about Naqvi’s statement, Barrister Saif claimed that it sparked controversy. “Mohsin Naqvi, the Sharif family, and the group of conspirators should undergo major surgery,” Saif wrote on X, emphasiSing that sports should remain free from politics.

He alleged that the board, headed by Naqvi, was installed by “conspirators” who stole the mandate, adding that the “incompetent group has hurt the sentiments of cricket fans.”

Saif insisted that the PCB chairman should be a professional and responsible individual. A day earlier, the PCB announced it would review central contracts following the team’s embarrassing early exit from the tournament.
