Earthquake causes panic in KP, Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: A strong earthquake rattled many cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad on Wednesday morning, causing panicked residents to rush out of their homes.

The earthquake, measured at 4.4 on the Richter Scale, jolted several KP cities including Peshawar, Mardan, Swat, Malakand, Lower Dir, Mansehra, Balakot, Battagram, Hangu, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, North Waziristan, Parachinar, Kohat, and Kohistan.

The epicenter of the earthquake was the border region between Afghanistan and Tajikistan, striking at a depth of 145 kilometers.

Tremors were also felt in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Due to the strong tremors, the public came out of their homes and recited verses from the Holy Quran.

As of now, there is no information about any loss of life or property damage due to the earthquake.

On June 15, residents of Swat and adjacent regions were also jolted by an earthquake of moderate intensity.
