ISLAMABAD: Pakistani security forces on Wednesday rejected India’s “false propaganda” concerning the brutal murder of former Army officer Brigadier (R) Amir Hamza, saying that the propaganda had no no relevance with ground realities involving the attack on the retired army officer.
Brig (R) Amir Hamza was assassinated by unknown assailants two days back while he was travelling with his wife and daughter near Lilla Interchange, District Jehlum. The former Army officer succumbed to his injuries and died on spot while his wife and daughters sustained injuries and are hospitalised in stable condition.
An Indian media report claimed on Wednesday that Brigadier (R) Amir Hamza was a key Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) operative, who Indian counter-terror agencies believe was among the brains behind the 2018 attack on the Sunjwan army camp in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) which left six soldiers killed and over a dozen injured.
Sources in the security sources told Pakistan Today that the propaganda involving concocted and misleading stories appearing in the Indian media has no relevance with ground facts and circumstances leading to assassination of former Army officer Brig (R) Amir Hamza.
“Linking it with the association of Brig Amir Hamza with an Intelligence Agency and his involvement in an operation in IIOJ&K is absolutely absurd and devoid of truth,” said the sources, adding that consequent to this incident.
“Let me put it on record that during his entire military career, Brigadier Amir Hamza has never served in any Intelligence set up. After his retirement in 2016, the officer was employed in Rescue 1122. After completion of this stint in 2018, Brigadier Hamza remained employed in DHA Lahore till 2021,” the sources said.
“Linking Amir Hamza with a concocted operation in IIOJ&K as part of Intelligence task is a part of traditional and vicious propaganda campaign aimed at mitigating effects of embarrassment caused due to the overwhelming set back to Modi regime and its stooge media in recently held elections,” the sources concluded.
