CM Maryam inspects flood response measures across Lahore

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Monday conducted a tour of various areas in Lahore to inspect the measures being taken to manage the aftermath of recent heavy rainfall.

Accompanied by the Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioners, and other administrative officers, CM Maryam’s visit aimed to oversee the efforts to normalize the situation promptly.

During her inspection, she urged the administrative officials to remain vigilant and actively engage in the field to address the waterlogging issues quickly.

She emphasized the importance of timely water drainage across the province and suggested utilizing safe city cameras and drone technology to monitor areas where water drainage was insufficient, mirroring the approach taken during the sanitation campaign on Eid.

Maryam Nawaz directed the administration to provide updates on the ground situation every half hour. Her route included areas such as Shadman, Ferozepur Road, Davis Road, and Shimla Hill, as well as a visit to Gaddafi Stadium. At the stadium, she ordered the immediate deployment of additional water pumps to facilitate faster water removal.

The Chief Minister stopped at various locations to personally assess the ongoing drainage efforts. She also met with staff from the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) and commended them for their dedication and hard work during this challenging period.
