KARACHI: Residents of Karachi can expect a break from the intense heat as the Met Office has announced the return of the sea breeze starting Monday.
The city, which has been grappling with ‘feel-like’ temperatures reaching 40°C, will see a significant drop in temperatures due to the southwesterly sea breeze, traditionally responsible for moderating the city’s climate.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) noted that the sea winds have resumed at a speed of 18 km per hour, promising some relief from the recent scorching conditions.
However, the weather is still expected to remain hot and humid over the next 24 hours, with maximum temperatures forecasted to be between 35°C and 37°C.
In contrast, other cities and districts in Sindh continue to experience high ‘feel-like’ temperatures with Larkana at 48°C, Dadu at 47°C, Sukkur at 45°C, and Nawabshah at 42°C.
Meanwhile, several regions in Punjab, including Lahore, have enjoyed cooler weather following heavy rains accompanied by strong winds.
Notable areas in Lahore such as Shadman, Iqbal Town, Ferozepur Road, Ichhra, and Jail Road witnessed significant rainfall that helped lower the temperatures. Similar weather conditions were reported in Muridke, Daska, Haveli Lakha, and Abbottabad, as well as in Mirpur Azad Kashmir and its surrounding areas.
