PIA air-hostess caught smuggling foreign currency at Lahore airport

A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) air hostess was apprehended while attempting to smuggle currency at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport. The suspect had hidden 140,000 Saudi riyals, equivalent to approximately Rs 140,000, in her socks.

During a routine check by Customs officials at Allama Iqbal International Airport, the PIA air hostess was caught red-handed attempting to smuggle foreign currency. According to Deputy Commissioner Customs Raja Bilal, the air hostess was offloaded from a flight bound for Jeddah after the concealed currency was discovered.

The total amount smuggled, equivalent to $37,000, was uncovered during the routine checks. Customs officials promptly acted on the discovery, referring the air hostess to the investigating officer and registering a case against her.

This incident highlights the ongoing efforts by customs authorities to prevent illegal currency smuggling at the airport.
