Key Daesh commander among three arrested by CTD

LAHORE: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested three terrorists, including a prominent Daesh commander, during 78 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) across Punjab, seizing explosives and other materials intended for terrorist activities.

A CTD spokesman announced on Saturday that the operations, which took place in the wake of increased terrorism threats, targeted various cities including Faisalabad, Jhelum, and Chakwal.

The arrests included a key Daesh figure and two other terrorists, identified as Abdul Wahab, Saifullah, and Khurram Abbas, who were reportedly planning to execute terrorist attacks aimed at causing widespread fear.

The seized items from the terrorists include explosives, three detonators, an 8-foot safety fuse wire, two improvised explosive devices (IEDs), firearms, cell phones, and cash.

Additionally, the spokesman detailed that in the past week, 506 suspects were detained and 32,056 individuals were investigated across 952 combing operations. The CTD remains dedicated to ensuring a safe Punjab by eradicating the threat of terrorism.
