LHC issues notices over Sahiwal VC’s interim appointment at Okara university

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued notices to the Secretary of Higher Education Punjab and other relevant parties concerning a petition challenging the appointment of the Vice Chancellor (VC) of Sahiwal University as the interim VC of Okara University.

Justice Shakeel Ahmed presided over the case, where the petitioner’s counsel argued that the position of VC at Okara University should not be filled by the VC of another university, particularly given the presence of a Pro Vice Chancellor.

Advocate Chaudhry Muhammad Asif Shahzad contended that the appointment of Dr. Javed Akhtar, the current VC of Sahiwal University, to the interim position at Okara University is unlawful.

The petition seeks the annulment of Dr. Javed Akhtar’s interim appointment as VC of Okara University. The court has requested a detailed response from the Secretary of Higher Education Punjab and other concerned parties.
