RAWALPINDI: Adiala Jail has undergone a significant personnel overhaul, with the appointment of three new officers, amid an ongoing probe into allegations of misconduct within the facility.
Ali Amir Shah steps in as the new Additional Superintendent, while Aamer Fayaz Bhatti and Jamaat Ali take over as Deputy Superintendent of Education and Deputy Superintendent of the Judicial Wing, respectively.
These appointments, mandated by the Punjab Home Department, are part of a corrective measure following the arrest of Muhammad Akram, the former Deputy Superintendent.
Akram was detained on August 14 for allegedly aiding PTI founder Imran Khan and misusing his authority. Tahir Siddique Shah has been appointed as the new Deputy Superintendent to fill the vacated role.
Further deepening the investigation, authorities are currently interrogating two additional officers, the former Deputy Superintendent Zafar and an Assistant Nazir, both reported to have close ties with the ousted Akram.
The inquiry is set to extend to six more jail staff members, including two of Akram’s orderlies, three warders, and a head warder, all suspected of being complicit in the purported misconduct.
