ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Rana Sanaullah has urged Mohsin Naqvi to choose between his positions as Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Minister of Interior, stating that both are full-time roles.
Sanaullah highlighted that a final decision must be made on which post Naqvi will retain.
Speaking to a private news channel, Sanaullah criticized political interference in sports bodies, claiming that powerful individuals often secure key positions without merit.
He alleged that those unable to find positions in other institutions use their influence to take roles in prestigious sports organizations, warning that challenging such figures could destabilize the entire system.
Commenting on the political landscape, Sanaullah clarified that his party is not aligned with Maulana Fazlur Rehman but is cooperating with him on certain issues.
The minister also addressed allegations against Lt. General (retired) Faiz Hameed, accusing him of influencing the appointment of the Army Chief and using the PTI for personal gains.
If the allegations are true, Sanaullah claimed, Hameed could not have acted alone and the founder of PTI would also be implicated.
He hinted that after Hameed’s retirement, WhatsApp messages might emerge, revealing communications between him and others on May 9th, with further details potentially coming to light from those who facilitated these exchanges.
