Govt to host APC on Gaza issue as part of Palestine Solidarity Day on Oct 7: PM

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to observe October 7 as “Palestine Solidarity Day” and organised an All Parties Conference (APC) to reaffirm Pakistan’s unwavering support and solidarity with the Palestinian brethren.

Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif will host the APC while President Asif Ali Zardari and representatives of all political parties will attend the APC to show the world Pakistani nation’s unity on Palestine

The decision was taken during a meeting between Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman.

The PPP and JI delegation called on the prime minister in Prime Minister House.

On the occasion, a committee was established, comprising Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Sherry Rehman, Saad Rafique and Nayer Bukhari to organise events on October 7.

Nationwide gatherings, seminars, and rallies will be held across Pakistan to express solidarity with Palestine and condemn Israeli violence.

On the occasion, Bilawal Bhutto said that the ongoing violence in Gaza threatens regional stability. “We must unite against imperialist and Zionist agendas,” he added.

The PPP chairman also hailed President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for attending the All-Parties Conference, demonstrating their commitment to the Palestinian cause.

The participants of the meeting resolved to raise their voice against the Israeli aggression and worst brutalities against the innocent people in Gaza and Palestine, and show solidarity with them.

The meeting also praised Jamaat-e-Islami’s stance in solidarity with the innocent Palestinians in Gaza and Palestine.

The JI Ameer also lauded the prime minister’s speech at the United Nations General Assembly for raising the issue of ongoing Israeli atrocities against Palestinians, and commended the walkout by the Pakistani delegation, led by the prime minister, at the start of the Israeli prime minister’s speech.

PPP, JI stand together on Gaza issue: Bilawal

A earlier, Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman visited Zardari House in Islamabad and invited PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to participate in the Gaza Million March.

The delegation led by Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, included Liaqat Baloch while Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab was also present on the occasion.

Hafiz Naeem extended the invitation to Bilawal Bhutto for the Gaza March.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, the JI chief alongside Bilawal Bhutto, condemned Israel for state terrorism, highlighting its recent attack on Lebanon.

He called on the government to focus on the Gaza situation. “On October 7, we will take to the streets across the country at 12 pm to protest. Despite political differences, we must unite for Palestine,” he stated.

It is noteworthy that Jamaat-e-Islami will hold a Million March on October 7 on Embassy Road in Islamabad to express solidarity with Gaza and Lebanon.

Bilawal Bhutto, while speaking on the occasion, said that despite ideological differences, “we stand together on this issue. The whole of Pakistan must unite, political parties are not ready to shake hands due to differences, but this is a positive step forward in Pakistan’s politics.”

He also assured Hafiz Naeem that PPP would support Jamaat-e-Islami on this issue, and that together, “we will send a message to the world that we stand with the people of Gaza.”
