Safe City project to be inaugurated in four major Punjab cities next week: Maryam Nawaz

SHEIKHUPURA: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Thursday inaugurated safe city project in Sheikhupura and during next week, CM Punjab is going to inaugurate Safe Cities Projects in four more major cities of the province.

During the inauguration of Safe City Project in Sheikhupura, CM Maryam also observed the video wall of Safe City and inspected the modern communication equipment being used in the project in Sheikhupura. Maryam Nawaz was told about the advanced body cam, rugged smart phone and other devices. The Chief Minister also observed the monitoring process at Safe City Sheikhupura’s control room.

CM was told that 273 cameras have been installed at 52 key locations of the city. There will be automatic e-challans for violation of traffic rules, adding that Safe City will also monitor Air Quality Index. The criminals will be identified and tracked by Facial Recognition System. Panic buttons have also been installed at 10 different places in Sheikhupura city. Chief Minister also inspects free Wi-Fi facility which was being provided at 15 places in the city.

CM Maryam Nawaz also met with Sheikhupura assembly members and during the meeting, DPO Sheikhupura gave a briefing on the law and order situation. Deputy Commissioner also informed Maryam Nawaz about the progress on the Chief Minister initiatives, besides Maryam Nawaz was briefed about the construction and extension of Sheikhupura Sargodha Road.

1st Batch of Train Women for Economic Empowerment Passed Out

Meanwhile, Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif was the chief guest at a ceremony in Garments City Sheikhupura to mark the completion of training of the first batch of CM’s programme – Train Women for Economic Empowerment – to make women skilled and economically empowered. She gave away certificates to the women who completed training in garment making and sewing. She wrote a new history of Punjab by giving financial assistance to the poor women of Wagah in the form of scholarships and job letters along with awarding them training completion certificates.

Speaking at the ceremony, CM Maryam Nawaz said, “The purpose of making you skilled is that you become not a receiver but a giver, don’t be dependent on anyone.” She added,”Inshallah, garment training centres will be built in every tehsil so that my girls do not have to travel far from homes.”

The Punjab CM said, “This is the first batch of women to complete training under the program of skilling women for the first time in Punjab.” She met with the women undergoing training in garment manufacturing, and congratulated them on the completion of their training. She said, “No one will consider you weak after becoming skilled, Inshallah, congratulations on your growth journey.”
