LAHORE: Punjab reported 116 new dengue cases on Sunday, raising the total number of cases to 5,041 as health authorities intensify monitoring efforts, particularly in Rawalpindi, which reported 104 of the new cases.
The situation in Rawalpindi has worsened considerably in recent weeks, highlighting the need for urgent containment measures.
According to the health department’s latest report, 827 dengue cases were recorded across Punjab in the past week alone. In addition to Rawalpindi, four new cases were reported in Lahore, with Mandi Bahauddin, Faisalabad, Attock, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Chiniot, and Dera Ghazi Khan each confirming one case.
The health department has assured the public that public sector hospitals are adequately stocked with resources and medicines to handle the increasing cases. Citizens can access information, treatment, or file dengue-related complaints through the department’s free helpline at 1033.
Health authorities emphasize the importance of vigilance, preventive actions, and public awareness to curb the spread of dengue, urging citizens to stay informed and take necessary precautions.
