Three more days of intense heat expected in Karachi

KARACHI: Karachi is set to experience three more days of sweltering temperatures, with the Meteorological Department forecasting highs potentially exceeding 40 degrees Celsius.

The heat is expected to peak today, with temperatures predicted to reach around 40 degrees on Monday and 39 degrees on Tuesday.

Hot and dry winds from Balochistan will likely impact Karachi during the first half of each day, while brief coastal sea breezes are anticipated to resume in the evening. Humidity levels may spike in the morning, though they are expected to moderate later in the day.

According to the Meteorological Department, the current conditions do not meet the criteria for a heatwave, which typically requires sustained temperatures of 40 degrees, three consecutive days without sea breezes, and humidity levels above 60 percent.

In rural Sindh, the heat will be even more intense, with temperatures in Sajawal, Thatta, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, and Tharparkar expected to rise up to 42 degrees.
