KARACHI: A tragic LPG cylinder blast claimed the lives of two individuals in a cylinder shop at Sagheer Centre, Federal B Area, Karachi on Sunday.
Police sources confirmed that the explosion was triggered by a gas leak in one of the cylinders.
Eyewitnesses reported that the shop, which opened only six months ago, was operating without proper documentation, a concern residents had raised repeatedly with local authorities.
Following the blast, a fire quickly spread throughout the area, taking rescue teams three hours to bring under control, with four fire brigade vehicles deployed. The explosion left several nearby residents injured, including those in two flats within Sagheer Centre. The injured were promptly transported to a local hospital for treatment.
In a separate incident in Khairpur, two motorcyclists, Farhan and Ameen Soomro, were killed when a trawler struck their motorcycle on the Babrloi Bypass.
The two were reportedly on their way to a marriage ceremony from Faiz Wah to Kot Digi. The driver of the trawler fled the scene, and police have registered a case, launching an investigation into the incident.
