Taylor Swift lit up the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Oct. 26 with a surprise appearance by her friend and former tour opener, Sabrina Carpenter. During the surprise songs segment of the show, Swift took an unexpected phone call — from Carpenter herself.
In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), Swift, 34, asked the audience to be quiet as she put Carpenter, 25, on speakerphone. Swift explained to Carpenter that she had just sung part of her song “Espresso” and that the audience “sang every single word so loud.” With the crowd cheering, Swift asked her friend if she could “come down to the stadium real quick.” Carpenter playfully replied that she’d be there “in five seconds,” and moments later, she appeared on stage in a white dress to join Swift.
The two performed an exciting mashup of Carpenter’s “Espresso” and “Please, Please Please” with Swift’s “Is It Over Now?” — a fitting combination since Swift’s song references “three hundred takeout coffees later,” a nod to Carpenter’s song.
Carpenter previously joined Swift on stage during her international tour stops in Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, and beyond. The pair also teamed up for a memorable medley in Sydney after weather delays canceled Carpenter’s opening set.
Swift’s presence in New Orleans sparked excitement around the city, with the Superdome featuring a giant inflatable friendship bracelet reading “Taylor Swift” over the entrance. Fans even shared stories of securing blocks of hotel rooms for fellow Swifties to make the experience more affordable.
