Kim Kardashian Seeks to Secure Her Legacy by Emulating Princess Diana’s Iconic Style, Spends Thousands For The Privilege, Experts Say

Kim Kardashian, often seen as social media royalty, seems to be taking inspiration from the legacy of Princess Diana, aiming to build her own enduring impact, according to fashion and PR experts. Diana, the “People’s Princess,” is remembered for her humanitarian work and cultural influence. Experts believe that Kardashian, 44, is pursuing a similar path, with her focus on criminal justice reform and recent style choices reflecting Diana’s timeless elegance.

Fashion consultant Alison Lowe MBE suggests Kardashian is consciously mirroring Diana’s approach to style and social causes. “Diana is an enduring icon, so it’s not surprising that Kim would want to emulate her ability to raise the profile of social causes,” she said. Fans took note when Kardashian acquired Diana’s famous Attallah Cross necklace, an iconic amethyst and diamond piece that Diana wore to a 1987 charity event. Kardashian purchased the necklace for $200,000 (£154,161) at an auction in January 2023 and wore it publicly for the first time at the 2024 LACMA Art + Film Gala.

Kardashian’s wardrobe has also echoed Diana’s iconic looks, featuring sophisticated, classic designs. In 2022, she wore a runway dress resembling one Diana wore for her 36th birthday celebration in 1997. She also wore a black lace dress to the 2023 Baby2Baby Gala similar to Diana’s outfit at a 1996 Royal Albert Hall gala. Most recently, Kardashian attended Paris Fashion Week in a Balenciaga piece closely reminiscent of Diana’s elegant style.

By aligning her fashion and philanthropy, Kardashian appears to be crafting a legacy that mirrors the influence and grace of Princess Diana, combining her public persona with meaningful social contributions.
