Ariana Grande uses full name in ‘Wicked’ credits for this reason

Ariana Grande has used her real name in her latest film Wicked as she wanted to honour her younger self.

In an interview, American singer shared that she chose to have her full name, ‘Ariana Grande-Butera’, when the final credits for the film roll down.

The 31-year-old pop star is playing the role of ‘Glinda’ in the upcoming adaptation of the popular Broadway musical.

The movie will showcase the backstory of The Wizard of Oz unleashing how Elphaba, played by Cynthia Erivo became the ‘Wicked Witch’ while her classmate, the Everyday singer, turned out to be the ‘Good Witch’ in the fantasy world.

Grande shared that she was ‘little girl’ when she fell in love with the show therefore, it was her dream to pay a tribute to little Ariana with her magical flick.

7 Rings singer told Hit Network: “Technically, it’s my little girl name. It’s little Ari name. This experience was such a homecoming for me, I feel like I came home to myself in a lot of ways in what I learned from Glinda, from Elphaba.”

“That was my name when I was 10 years old and it felt like a really lovely way of honouring that. It felt really full circle and just something that I wanted to do.”

Wicked will be releasing worldwide on November 22, 2024.
