Fawad Chaudhry asks Trump to probe alleged U.S. role in Imran Khan’s ouster

ISLAMABAD: Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry on Friday called on U.S. President-elect Donald Trump to investigate the circumstances surrounding the removal of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan from office.

Fawad alleged that advisors to Trump also suspect the Biden administration’s involvement in Khan’s ouster. Drawing parallels between the two leaders, Fawad claimed both Trump and Khan faced politically motivated cases aimed at tarnishing their reputations.

He emphasized that while the U.S. electoral process in 2024 respected the public’s will, Pakistan’s general elections disregarded the people’s mandate.

Earlier, PTI MNA Ali Muhammad Khan said that Imran Khan expressed optimism about Trump’s election victory, anticipating an end to the strained bilateral ties under the Biden administration. Speaking on a TV program, he shared that Imran Khan viewed Trump’s presidency as an opportunity to revive the friendly relations the two leaders once shared.

Ali Muhammad Khan also revealed that during his premiership, Imran Khan received calls from Trump to discuss bilateral and business matters, describing Trump’s approach towards Pakistan as “positive and cooperative.”
