Muslim Council urges Trump to enforce Palestine, Lebanon ceasefire before inauguration

MUZAFFARABAD: The Muslim Council of America (MCA) has urged U.S. President-elect Donald Trump to take immediate action to enforce a ceasefire in Palestine and Lebanon, emphasizing the need to curb violence in these regions before his inauguration.

In a statement on Sunday, Rana Zaman Saeed, Chairman of the MCA, stressed that Trump should leverage his influence to halt ongoing conflicts and prevent further bloodshed. Saeed highlighted the council’s role in mobilizing Muslim voters through a campaign titled “One Million Muslim Votes for Trump,” which he said played a crucial role in Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential election.

“Our campaign was built on the hope of fostering peace,” Saeed said. “We supported Donald Trump with the belief that he would address the violence in Palestine and Lebanon. Now, it is his responsibility to act and ensure no more lives are lost, even before taking office.”

The MCA’s appeal comes amid escalating tensions in Palestine and Lebanon, where recent violence has resulted in significant casualties and displacement. Saeed criticized the outgoing Biden administration for policies he claimed had deepened divisions and exacerbated global conflicts.

Calling for diplomatic solutions, Saeed advocated for peace negotiations rather than military interventions. He also expressed optimism that Trump could redirect U.S. foreign policy to focus on unity and justice.

“President Trump has a historic opportunity to lead efforts for global peace,” Saeed said. “We expect him to prioritize diplomacy and the well-being of all, regardless of faith or nationality. The time for action is now.”

The MCA’s call underscores the high expectations placed on Trump by Muslim communities that supported his campaign. Whether he will act immediately or defer such decisions until his inauguration remains uncertain.
