Five killed in fog-related accident near Thatta

THATTA: The death toll from a tragic fog-related traffic accident near Gharo on the National Highway has risen to five, after two critically injured victims succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.

Earlier on Sunday, three people were killed instantly when six vehicles collided due to poor visibility caused by dense fog in Thatta district.

Hospital officials confirmed that two additional victims, who were in critical condition, passed away shortly after being admitted, bringing the total death toll to five. The deceased have been identified as Shoaib, Rehman, Nadeem, Moin, and Gul Zaman.

Additionally, four other individuals, out of 12 injured, remain in critical condition and have been transferred to Karachi for further medical treatment.

The incident near Gharo is one of two fog-related accidents that occurred on Sunday. The first involved six vehicles in a collision due to limited visibility on the National Highway. Three people died at the scene, and 14 others were injured. The bodies and injured individuals were taken to Civil Hospital Thatta.

The second accident occurred on M.M. Road near Darya Khan in Punjab, where a passenger bus collided with a trailer parked on the roadside. Two people died, and six others were injured. The bus, traveling from Uch Sharif to Rawalpindi, was struck by the trailer due to poor visibility caused by the dense fog.

Emergency teams transported the injured and the deceased to nearby hospitals for treatment and identification.
