Britney Spears has reconnected with her youngest son, Jayden, 18, after years of a strained relationship. Sources reveal that the teen initiated contact, marking a significant step toward reconciliation.
An insider shared with Page Six that Jayden texted Spears upon returning to California, saying, “She was very happy to hear from and see him.” Jayden and his brother, Sean Preston, 19, moved to Hawaii last year with their father, Kevin Federline, and stepmother, Victoria Prince, who works at the University of Hawaii. Federline has had full custody of the boys since 2008.
Federline’s lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, confirmed that the former DJ supported Jayden’s decision to visit his mom, emphasizing that both boys are adults and free to make their own choices. “If the boys feel comfortable improving their relationship with their mom, Kevin’s all for that,” Kaplan said.
Sources indicate that Jayden and Spears have “been spending a lot of time together” during his visit to California, where the pop icon resides. While Jayden is not staying at Spears’ home, insiders say he is open to rebuilding their bond. “It’s going to take time and will not be an immediate reconciliation,” a source told Us Weekly.
Jayden, who recently graduated high school in Hawaii, is reportedly considering college in California and wanted to reconnect with friends in Los Angeles during his visit. Meanwhile, it remains unclear if Preston has plans to see his mother.
This reunion follows Spears’ attempts to reach out to her sons in recent months, including on Mother’s Day in June. Spears, who no longer pays hefty child support after both sons’ high school graduations, has agreed to cover additional undisclosed expenses for the boys, such as potential college costs.
