Tina Fey Shines on Broadway Date Night with Husband Jeff Richmond

Tina Fey, renowned for her work on “Mean Girls” and “30 Rock,” stepped out in style for the Broadway opening of “Death Becomes Her” with her husband, Jeff Richmond, in New York City on Thursday. The comedic powerhouse, standing at 1.64 meters, looked glamorous in a longline black coat, noticeably taller than her husband, who is 1.57 meters tall.

Jeff, a celebrated composer known for his work on “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” complemented his wife’s elegant look with a striking striped suit paired with a hot pink paisley tie. This isn’t the first time Jeff has joined Tina on the red carpet; he previously supported her during the gala premiere of the “Mean Girls” musical at London’s Savoy Theatre in June.

The couple, who met in 1993 while working with the Second City improv theater troupe in Chicago, celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary this year. Their relationship, which blossomed after seven years of dating, has been marked by mutual respect and collaboration. Jeff has composed scores for several of Tina’s projects, including the Broadway adaptation of “Mean Girls,” earning a Tony Award nomination, and the upcoming 2024 movie musical version.

Tina and Jeff share two daughters, 19-year-old Alice Zenobia Richmond and 13-year-old Penelope Athena Richmond. Reflecting on their relationship, Tina shared with Women’s Health the ease and respect that defined their early years together, highlighting the maturity Jeff brought to their partnership due to the age difference. Jeff echoed this sentiment in a 2008 Vanity Fair interview, describing their marriage as “borderline boring — in a good way,” emphasizing the strong principles and commitment that have underpinned their long-lasting union.

Their latest appearance together underscores not only their personal connection but also their ongoing influence and partnership in both their professional and personal lives.
