ANF seizes over 192 kg of drugs in nationwide operations, arrests three

RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has carried out four successful operations across Pakistan, resulting in the seizure of over 192 kg of drugs and the arrest of three suspected smugglers, a spokesman from the ANF Headquarters reported.

In one significant operation, ANF personnel recovered 80 kg of morphine and 30 kg of hashish, concealed for the purpose of smuggling, in the Qila Abdullah district of Balochistan.

Another operation at a courier office in Karachi led to the discovery of approximately 250 grams of methamphetamine, cleverly concealed inside ‘Peshawari chappals’ and booked for shipment to New Zealand.

Additionally, an operation on GT Road in Rawalpindi led to the arrest of an individual found in possession of 4.1 kg of hashish.

Meanwhile, near the Kala Shah Kaku Toll Plaza in Lahore, ANF tried to intercept a suspicious Toyota Hiace. The vehicle’s occupants attempted to escape, damaging an ANF vehicle in the process, but were ultimately stopped and arrested by ANF personnel. A search of the vehicle uncovered 65 packets of hashish, each weighing 1200 grams, summing up to 78 kg of hashish worth approximately Rs 5.5 million.

The individuals arrested confessed to their involvement in a drug smuggling operation that transported narcotics from Peshawar to various districts across Punjab. The ongoing investigation aims to dismantle the rest of their network. Separate cases have been registered against those arrested, and further investigative processes are in motion.

In a related development, Khuzdar levies conducted an operation at the Gasleti check post in the Wadh area of Khuzdar district, Balochistan, on the directive of Deputy Commissioner Khuzdar, Yasir Iqbal Dashti.

During the operation, a vehicle with the registration number BD-6823 was intercepted. An extensive search led to the recovery of a significant quantity of hashish concealed within hidden cavities of the vehicle. Two individuals, Muhammad Imran and Rizwan Ahmed, were arrested at the scene.

These operations underscore the ANF’s continued efforts to combat drug trafficking and the complex networks behind it across Pakistan.
