Emotion to action

Not many would disagree with the assertion that Muslims around the world happen to be more emotional than practical. Beyond giving expressions to our emotions, we hardly do anything to make things change on the ground. We take out rallies, but lose momentum right afterwards. Burning flags and effigies represents the height of expression. We need to get rid of this mindset, and to adopt a more rational approach.

The countries in the Muslim world that have the resources at their disposal have been developing strategic and economic ties with Israel, losing sight of the larger umbrella of ideological interests. Why do the Muslims not take out protest rallies against their own rulers for being silent on the critical issue? Indeed, why do we continue to see lengthy queues and waiting times for visas to Western destinations? But, more critically, why can we not see the contradictions within our set of practices?

We can be a force to reckon with only when we focus on a rational approach towards our future, improving ourselves both academically and scientifically.
