Imran Khan mandates PTI leadership to engage in negotiations: Salman Akram Raja

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) General Secretary Salman Akram Raja stated on Wednesday that PTI founder Imran Khan has instructed the party leadership to engage in negotiations at all levels to uphold the supremacy of the constitution and rule of law.

Speaking to the media outside the Peshawar High Court (PHC) and later in an interview with Dunya News, Raja emphasized that PTI would continue to fight for the people’s democratic rights and the supremacy of law and the constitution in Pakistan.

He affirmed that the party would engage in talks on every appropriate platform, as directed by Imran Khan, to safeguard constitutional integrity and address the country’s challenges.

Meanwhile, the PHC granted a one-month protective bail to Salman Akram Raja, barring police from arresting him in any ongoing cases. A bench comprising Justice Sahibzada Asadullah and Justice Waqar Ahmed heard Raja’s plea. During the hearing, Raja explained that while he had secured bail in eight cases, he was unaware of the status of other cases against him.

Raja also spoke about PTI’s protests in Islamabad last month, particularly the operation by security forces to clear D-Chowk, where party leaders and workers had gathered for Imran Khan’s release. Raja expressed that Khan was deeply saddened by the deaths of party workers during the operation. He quoted Khan as saying, “The government should have avoided the use of force to disperse people.”

This protest and subsequent events led to several PTI leaders, including Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Ali Amin Gandapur, and former President Dr. Arif Alvi, being named in FIRs under the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.
