ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar has announced that the party will present two written demands to the government on January 16 as part of the ongoing negotiations.
Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Barrister Gohar emphasized that these negotiations were consistent with those being conducted with the government, dispelling any rumors of secret deals.
“There is no deal happening. If there were, we would not be hiding it from the public,” Barrister Gohar said. He clarified that the talks were the same as the discussions with the government and denied any political agreements influencing the ongoing proceedings.
Regarding the delay in the verdict for PTI founder Imran Khan, Barrister Gohar dismissed speculations suggesting a deal was the cause.
He explained that the postponement was solely due to the judge needing additional time to write the decision. “We were informed yesterday that a decision would be made, but it has now been scheduled for January 17,” Gohar added.
On the matter of Imran Khan’s court appearance, Barrister Gohar revealed that the PTI leader had been instructed to arrive at 9 AM. However, he noted that, during his time in jail, no trial had ever started before 11 AM.
Barrister Gohar also responded to questions regarding the recent meeting between Army Chief and PTI leader Ali Amin Gandapur. He explained that such meetings are ongoing, primarily focusing on law and order issues. He further stressed the importance of maintaining good working relationships.
In a separate development, Barrister Gohar confirmed that Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, and his sister, Aleema Khan, had distanced themselves from the negotiations between PTI and the federal government.
According to local media reports, while both women had been involved in providing suggestions to the negotiation committee, they had no direct role in the talks. The report also clarified that Imran Khan had directed the party’s negotiation team to engage with the government according to his guidelines.
