Director David Leitch, known for John Wick and The Fall Guy, is reportedly in talks to helm Ocean’s 14, a direct sequel to the 2007 hit Ocean’s 13. The movie is expected to bring back George Clooney and Brad Pitt, reprising their roles as Danny Ocean and Rusty Ryan, under Clooney’s Smokehouse Pictures banner in collaboration with Warner Bros.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming film will see Clooney once again leading his crew of charismatic criminals. Brad Pitt, who last worked with Clooney and Leitch on Bullet Train, is confirmed to join the cast, alongside other franchise veterans like Matt Damon and Casey Affleck.
The Ocean’s series, which debuted in 2001 with Ocean’s Eleven, has been a fan favorite for its high-stakes heists and ensemble cast. The last main installment, Ocean’s 13, released in 2007, grossed over $420 million globally, cementing its success. The franchise later expanded with Ocean’s 8, a 2018 spinoff led by a female cast and directed by Gary Ross.
Unlike the original trilogy directed by Steven Soderbergh, Ocean’s 14 will mark a new era with Leitch stepping in as director. A former stuntman turned filmmaker, Leitch is expected to bring his signature action-packed style to the franchise.
In addition to Ocean’s 14, another project in the Ocean’s universe is already underway. Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie are set to star in a prequel film, Ocean’s Eleven, directed by Jay Roach. This story, set in 1960s Europe, will further expand the franchise’s narrative.
Fans can look forward to Ocean’s 14 as it promises to revisit the charm and thrill of the iconic series while introducing a fresh directorial approach.
