Armaghan’s remand extended in Mustafa Amir murder probe

KARACHI: In the ongoing investigation into the Mustafa Amir murder case, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) has granted a six-day extension to the physical remand of the accused, Armaghan.

The decision was made during a Tuesday hearing, where both Armaghan and another accused, Sheeraz, were brought before the court.

During the proceedings, Sheeraz’s legal counsel presented arguments alleging that a crucial witness in the case had been wrongfully implicated. Consequently, the court ordered Sheeraz to be placed in judicial custody.

Armaghan, the primary suspect, raised grievances with the court, citing prolonged confinement without a change of clothing and alleging that his fingerprints were obtained under duress. The investigating officer confirmed to the court that Armaghan had undergone a medical examination.

The prosecution emphasized that the murder weapon remains unrecovered, and that further investigation is required to establish Armaghan’s movements outside of Karachi. “Evidence pertaining to the accused’s travel beyond Karachi needs to be gathered,” the prosecution stated, indicating the need for a broader scope of inquiry.
