Pakistan mourn Pope Francis’ death, express condolence

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have both expressed their heartfelt sorrow and grief following the death of Pope Francis, the revered head of the Roman Catholic Church. His passing was confirmed by Cardinal Kevin Farrell on Monday, after Pope Francis made a brief public appearance the day before following his recovery from a 38-day hospital stay for pneumonia.

Pope Francis, born Jorge Mario Bergoglio, was elected as the 266th pope of the Catholic Church on March 13, 2013, and served until his death at the age of 88. His contributions to global peace, interfaith dialogue, and social justice earned him admiration worldwide.
