LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Monday announced that Punjab has formally launched Pakistan’s first Smart Environment Protection Force, terming the establishment of Environment Protection Force a milestone in her government’s strive towards a clean environment.
“The launching of Pakistan’s first Smart Environment Protection Force is a bold initiative towards achieving a clean and green future as the force has been equipped with surveillance drone, real-time (AQI) monitors and mobile labs,” CM Maryam stated in her message on the social networking website ‘X’.
The Chief Minister said, “Special squads have been established to streamline fields of industry, water, plastic, agriculture, transport and fuel. The Smart Environment Force is committed to ensure prompt response, proper implementation and continuous improvement in the air quality index. I congratulate Minister for Environment, Secretary EPD, DG EPA and their team for turning my vision into reality.”
She added, “Strong institutional reforms, active participation of all stakeholders and citizens are essential for the fulfillment of our mission regarding environmental protection across Punjab. Let us all pledge to strive wholeheartedly for the protection of our environment and be an active part to mitigate hazards of environmental pollution along with its permanent solution.”
CM Maryam Condoles Death of Pope Francis
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Monday expressed profound grief and sorrow over the death of Catholic Pope Francis Jorge Mario Bergoglio. In a condolence message, she expressed heartfelt sympathies and condolence to the Christian community across the globe on the sad demise of Pope Francis. She also paid tribute to Pope Francis’ services rendered for the promotion of global peace.
On the other hand, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed deep sorrow and grief over the death of five Pakistan pilgrims in a bus accident in Saudi Arabia. She expressed heartfelt sympathies and condolence to the bereaved families.
