Fake peerni awarded life-term, Rs20 mln fine imposed for setting girl on fire

FAISALABAD: Anti Terrorism Court awarded life imprisonment and imposed Rs20 million penalty on a fake peerni for setting mentally retarded girl on fire.

According to details, the incident took place in Ghulam Muhammadabad of Faisalabad where family of mentally retarded girl identified as Sonia Sultana 25, took her to a fake Peerni of the area.

The fake peerni in the name of treatment blotted the body of girl with iron rods besides laying her on burning coal leaving her injured.

A case was registered against the fraudster spiritual healer on complaint of brother of the victim lady.

The Special Judge of ATC Muhammad Hussain heard the case and after observing evidences and witnesses awarded life-term to the fake Peerni under Section 336 (b) of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) besides directing her to pay Rs20 million fine.
